Well this is all rather annoying. Having eventually found a tube line that was actually running we were then unceremoniously evacuated from the train and I am now walking back to Paddington. But never mind that - I hear we've got the Aussies at 85-6 :)

President Chirac has officially raised the French terror alert from "Run" to "Hide". There are only two higher alert levels in France, which are "Surrender" and "Collaborate". The rise was precipitated by a recent fire which destroyed France's white flag factory - effectively crippling their military.

Just heard a report on the radio where the reporter was saying he had just seen a milkfloat completely abandoned in the middle of a road on a london backstreet but with the radio left on, and with a crowd of 7 or 8 people standing around it listening to the news. Bit of a Shaun Of The Dead moment.
